CALLING ALL ALBERTA & BRITISH COLUMBIA CREATIVES!

ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

Reel Youth is excited to partner with STORYHIVE to offer you a chance to be part of the VOICES of the LAND ONLINE FILMMAKING PROGRAM. This is a a fast paced online workshop designed to support you to produce a short land-based video-poem that explores your local histories and current land rights issues in the context of reconciliation, all while exploring your creativity!

If you're interested in participating, please fill in the form below. The program includes free editing software that you can use on your phone, tablet, or computer, and Reel Youth facilitators will guide you through the process of conceiving, filming and editing your own short film. 

You will:

Learn how to write slam poetry
Plan, shoot, and edit a short film (no experience necessary!)
Explore your community's Indigenous land histories and current issues
Learn a great phone or tablet editing software
Have a great time doing it!

Your films will be showcased at a virtual premiere after the program and distributed on TELUS Optik TV, STORYHIVE, and Reel Youth's YouTube channels, as well as on the Reel Youth website.

You Should Participate If You:

Are excited about filmmaking and interested in using film for social change
Are available for all program sessions listed below
Are supportive or curious to learn more about reconciliation
Have access to a phone/tablet (or DSLR) to record your film & edit your film
Can access a computer/laptop/tablet to run Zoom

This program has 8 sessions and full attendance is required. Session are as follows:
Open to participants in BC & Alberta. online - zoom and your community for filmming
Tuesday, Mar 10th- 4pm-6pm PST Thursday, Mar 12th - 4pm-6pm PST Tuesday, Mar 17th- 4pm-6pm PST Thursday, Mar 19th- 4pm-6pm PST Tuesday, Mar 31st- 4pm-6pm PST Thursday, Apr 2th - 4pm-6pm PST Thursday, Apr 14th - 4pm-6pm PST Film Premiere: Tuesday, May 5th - 4pm-6pm PST
